Around 55 million people have paid for a DNA test and can download the raw file — then never use it again. We are building a way to ask that file plain-English questions and get answers tied to the research behind them. It is not built yet, and this page is honest about which parts exist.

What does my file actually contain? What is CYP1A2? How strong is the evidence here? What should I ask my clinician?

My file mentions CYP1A2. What is that actually about?

CYP1A2 encodes an enzyme involved in clearing caffeine. Population studies associate one regulatory variant with slower clearance in some groups. Association only, measured mostly in adults of European ancestry, and not clinically validated — an array result like this would need confirmatory testing before it meant anything for you specifically.

Is that worth raising with my doctor?

That is your clinician's call, not ours. A printable summary can list the variant, the genotype your file reports, the evidence tier, the citation, and the limitations — plus questions worth asking, such as "is confirmatory testing warranted here?" and "does this change anything about how you would monitor me?"

Can you tell me which medication or supplement to take?

No — and it never will. Diagnosis, medications, dosing, treatment plans, and supplement or peptide protocols are excluded by design, and that exclusion is enforced in the code rather than promised in a footnote. What it can do is help you arrive at an appointment with better questions.

This is a hand-written mock-up, not real output. No system produced these answers, no genome was read, and the numbers shown are illustrative. Deoxy is intended to provide educational information for a conversation with a clinician — never a diagnosis, a medication recommendation, or a dose.

How It Is Intended To Work

The shape of the product we are building

You already paid for your DNA data. This is how we intend to let you use it — no kit, no lab, no new test. None of these three steps is available today.

Bring the file you already have

Planned. A 23andMe or AncestryDNA raw export, or a VCF. There is no upload path today, and the encrypted-storage design in docs/genome-storage.md is specified but not built.

Match it to reviewed evidence

Partly built. The file parser and the evidence-card workflow exist and are tested. The library itself is empty: a card only becomes visible once a named reviewer approves it, and none have been approved yet.

Take it to a clinician

Partly built. The discussion-guide generator works today: it produces a printable summary with citations, stated limitations, and questions to ask. It deliberately excludes diagnosis, medications, dosing, and supplement protocols.

Privacy Commitments

Your genome is the most personal data that exists. These are the commitments we are building against.

The industry taught people to fear this: DNA companies have been breached, bankrupted, and auctioned. Deoxy is designed for the world after that. Right now the strongest privacy guarantee we can make is that we hold no genome data at all — there is no upload path and no user record. Everything below is a commitment for when there is, written as a commitment rather than as a fact.

Commitment: encrypted with keys we can destroy

The specified design uses per-record encryption under a customer-managed key, so a single person's data can be made unreadable on request. Specified in docs/genome-storage.md; not implemented.

Commitment: never sold, never shared, never trained on

Your genome will not be an asset on our balance sheet: no data sales, no third-party sharing, no model training on your DNA. A binding commitment we intend to put in the terms — trivially true today, because we hold nothing.

Commitment: delete means delete

Deletion must destroy the record key, cascade to anything derived from it, and be honoured by backups — not just hide a row. The requirements are written down in docs/genome-storage.md; the workflow is not built. We will not accept a genome before it is.
